Toe Chop Escape

10-20 min Coach-led Wedge, Golf Balls
Setup
Coach places balls in tangled, down-grain rough. Player sets toe-down with heel up and face slightly open.
Drill Instructions
Make short, aggressive chops with steep entry, letting the toe lead through the grass. Keep wrists firm and finish short. Coach evaluates strike and start direction.
Goal
6/8 escapes advancing beyond 20 yards or onto green.
Make It Easier
Use less tangled rough and up-grain lies.
Coach Tip
Exposing the toe reduces surface area through grass—more consistent exits.
Make It Harder
Add a must-carry obstacle to a narrow landing area.
Avoid
Trying to sweep or release fully; it will tangle.
