Thick Rough Exploder

10-20 min Solo Wedge, Golf Balls

Setup

Find a thick rough patch just off the fairway. Choose a safe landing zone.

Drill Instructions

Set more upright with weight forward and a firmer grip. Hinge earlier and drive down steeply with speed, accepting a short run-out. Hit 10–12 balls focusing on consistent escape.

Goal

8/10 successful escapes advancing onto fairway/green.

Make It Easier

Use slightly lighter rough and more green to work with.

Coach Tip

Open the face slightly to preserve loft; grass will shut it at impact.

Make It Harder

Aim to specific proximity (inside 12 feet) to a pin.

Avoid

Trying to sweep it; you’ll get tangled and hooded.
