Par-5 Three-Zones

20+ min Solo Notebook, GPS/Rangefinder
Setup
Choose a par-5 and identify your favorite wedge distance. Work back to plan tee shot and layup yardages.
Drill Instructions
On a practice round, execute the plan, prioritizing leaving your preferred wedge. Record GIR, proximity, and score vs. going for it. Repeat on two par-5s.
Goal
Average par or better on the two holes with at least one GIR.
Make It Easier
Use wider layup zones and accept a range of wedge distances.
Coach Tip
The best par-5 strategy is often wedge-first, not max-second.
Make It Harder
Require approach inside 20 feet and no hazards challenged.
Avoid
Laying up to awkward 40–60 yard shots if you hate them.
