The Gate Squeeze Drill
15 minutes Solo Putter, 2 golf tees, 5 golf balls
Setup
Find a flat 3-foot putt. Place two tees just wider than your putter head to create a 'gate' for your stroke.
Drill Instructions
1. Set your ball in the center of the tee gate. 2. Make your normal putting stroke, ensuring the putter head passes between the tees without touching them. 3. Repeat for 10 consecutive successful strikes.
Goal
Improve center-face contact and stroke path consistency by avoiding the 'gate' tees.
Make It Easier
Widen the tees so there is an inch of space on either side of the putter head.
Coach Tip
Focus on a smooth, rhythmic stroke rather than a mechanical push to clear the gate.
Make It Harder
Move the tees closer together so there is only a millimeter of clearance on each side.
Avoid
Avoid decelerating the putter head as you approach the ball; maintain a steady tempo.
