Fairway Fence Challenge
4.0(1 rating)
15-20 min Solo 10 balls, 2 alignment sticks (or cones), Driver
Setup
On the range, pick a target line. Imagine a fairway about 20 yards apart and visualize 'fences' of a narrow fairway.
Drill Instructions
1. Go through your full pre-shot routine for every ball. 2. Visualize a tight fairway between your markers. 3. Hit 10 drives, attempting to keep every ball within the designated boundaries. 4. Record how many balls land inside the 'fence' vs. how many missed left or right.
Goal
Land at least 7 out of 10 drives within the 20-yard boundary while maintaining your full swing speed.
Make It Easier
Widen the fairway markers to 30 yards or use 3-wood to gain more control.
Coach Tip
Focus on your start line. If the ball starts outside your markers, it is much harder for curvature to bring it back into play.
Make It Harder
Narrow the markers to 15 yards or require 5 successful drives in a row to finish the drill.
Avoid
Don't guide the ball or swing tentatively; trust your swing and focus on a specific target in the distance.
